NTT DoCoMo said that owing to strong demand for Smartphones, the company plans to raise its profit forecast for the year ending March 2012 to 515 billion yen (US$6.60 billion; US$1 =78.0 yen), up from the previously predicted 502 billion yen (US$6.44 billion), according to a November 2, 2011 report by TeleGeography. Earlier, DoCoMo's sales target forecast of Smartphones was 2.5 million, but now the company also said it will raise this number to 8.5 million. DoCoMo projects to increase Smartphone subscriptions fourth fold, too, from previously forecasted 10.2 million to 40 million by fiscal year 2015.
